EYESONGREEN competition winner is set to take off

Aya Sarsour Khateeb and her husband are the founders of Mnjm, a Palestinian green start-up that recycles household waste and transforms it into raw materials for factories. At the same time, the couple changes community attitudes towards trash by educating citizens about the risks of pollution and the positive impact of good solid waste management.

Thanks to the EYESONGREEN Award, Mnjm founders have received world-class online training courses to improve their soft skills and develop their business. Courses included marketing&  communication, business modeling, pitching and storytelling, digital tools for SEs, social enterprise governance, among others.

The team claimed that the most beneficial one was the “networking and partnerships” course, where they gained more skills on how to find the right people and how to communicate their idea in the community.

“The financial management course was also very impactful and rewarding because I had no previous experience whatsoever in this area” admitted Aya Sarsour Khateeb.

The award is currently helping them reach investors, institutions and programmes that could support them to achieve their productivity and sustainability goals.

“we feel more confident now, we know better where we are heading and how to achieve it” claimed Khateeb.

The EYESONGREEN regional competition is an initiative of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), the EU Neighbours South (EUNS) regional communication programme, and the SwitchMed initiative.
