NextProtein Gains FDA Approval To Commercialize Its Products to USA

NextProtein has successfully obtained clearance from the US Federal Food and Drug Administration, the FDA, to market its products in the USA.

NextProtein was founded in 2015 by Tunisian couple Syrine Chaalala and Mohamed Gastli. It focuses on the transformation of insects, in particular the black soldier fly, into protein-rich food products for animals.

“Our products can now be purchased in the United States,” the company said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page. “Today marks another milestone in our journey towards standards of excellence,” the startup added.

This achievement follows its authorization in 2020 to sell its products in the European Union, making it the first insect breeding company outside the EU to obtain clearance to sell its products in the region.
