Established in 2019, CompoRoll offers domestic and industrial composters to efficiently convert organic waste into nutrient-rich compost.

Ghalia Damak’s journey towards CompoRoll was fueled by her passion for sustainable development which finally led her to launch CompoRoll, addressing the pressing issue of waste management in Tunisia. But, CompoRoll’s journey has not been without its challenges. Ghalia acknowledges the societal barriers that often hinder investment in environmental protection and the resistance to adopting new ecological habits.

"Sometimes I feel challenges are scaling up more than the business; in my opinion, the biggest one is a social barrier,"says Ghalia ironically.

Despite these obstacles, CompoRoll has achieved significant milestones. As of 2024, CompoRoll has recovered over 500 tons of organic waste, avoided releasing over 40 metric tons of CO2, and enriched over 30 hectares of land. Moreover, the increasing popularity of CompoRoll’s composters, with over 600 domestic units and 2 industrial units installed, demonstrates the success of CompoRoll’s efforts and advocacy.

The startup’s composters are implemented in many Tunisian schools, where children learn about sustainable waste management through hands-on workshops.
